Emerging Technologies (reflection)

One of the most obvious attributes of the revolution of technology that it is rapid in terms of development and change. If we think about the general hardware capabilities of our computers, we will find that there is a huge difference between the now adays computers compared to these once that are just 5 to 10 years old computers. Take the internal storage as an example, the flagship legacy hard disk drive (HDD) is almost 5 times slower than the least type of solid-state drives (SSDs). Before 10 to 13 years people were only use the internet by their computers with web browsers and there were no smart phones connected with the internet. Most internet services now have its own API connected to a modern mobile application and the use of those services using web browsers has declined.

All of this fact tells us that we cannot imagine any close limit of the development of technology, and while a lot of the emerging technologies have introduced a huge help to the human, still no doubt that they consist of a lot of downsides as well. So, as educational technology field we need to be openminded about the latest technologies and trying to adapt them correctly in the educational context.
